Copenhagen Jazz Festival is an annual music festival with around 250.000 guests in Copenhagen, Denmark. The festival is in need for a new identity that visualises jazz in all its different ways.
Solution
The subjectivity of jazz and emotions is intriguing when designing a concept and identity for a jazz music festival, as one must conclude that the power of jazz is its dynamic and emotionally diversity.
The solution for this brief emphasizes this diversity, implying that jazz touches the entire emotional spectrum - from anger to joy to confusion, etc. Visualized by abstract graphics that emphasize and symbolize different emotions, Copenhagen Jazz Festival welcomes its guests on a trip through this spectrum (tagline: "Embark on a journey through the entire spectrum of emotions"). The orange and purple colors of the identity portray the mix of a energetic/playful and a meaningful/reflecting state of mind.
The logo is designed to visually replicate soundwaves and resonances caused by soundwaves under specific frequencies.
